The creator of this website has been hiking since he was a young boy, starting off in the Washington, D.C. area with his parents. Then during WWII he hiked in the hills around Riverside, San Diego, and Los Angeles, California. Later, he roamed the hills near Cheshire, Oregon with his dog and sometimes on his horse. For the past 40 years he has resided in Kirkland, Washington and can be found on a hiking trail somewhere in the state almost every Saturday. If it is not for pleasure he is surveying an area for information for another hiking book. To date, he has logged in excess of 6,000 miles and worn out countless pairs of hiking boots. His hiking excursions have taken thousands of people on trails in the western half of the United States and Canada. While abroad in Japan, he took a group of five up Mt. Fuji. He has also contributed hundreds of trail reports and articles to various hiking publications over the years. However, the trail reports he wrote were always at least a month old by the time readers received them in their mail boxes. This inspired him to invest in this website so trail users can read the latest trail conditions immediately after being posted.
